From The Directors
Dear Campers and Parents,
We are pleased and excited to present the 24th season of the Best In Virginia Showcase Camp. During this time we've been fortunate to become the finest, most comprehensive instructional showcase in the U.S. Our popularity is due to several factors, most notably our commitment to providing great teaching AND exposure.
This camp is teaching, training and exposure. It's 100% intensive baseball: positional and hitting instruction, video analysis, written evaluation feedback, league games, speed and acceleration training, weight training, fundamental lectures, eligibility and college selection seminars, Showcase B.P., Showcase Games, and more. You will be treated like a mature prospect, and coached for attitude as well as ability. It's hard work, fun, and development—long-standing traditions of the Best In Virginia Showcase Camp. We are confident that it will not only prove to be the highlight of your summer, but also a springboard for bigger and better things in your baseball career.

Best in Virgina Showcase Camp

Who is Eligible?
Best in Virginia is open to all 2010 and 2011 high school graduates (i.e., rising high school juniors and seniors ONLY). Admission is secured on a first come, first serve basis.
What BIV is all About...
College baseball coaches receive hundreds of inquiries from high school baseball players every year. Most of these young men want teaching, exposure and guidance in the recruiting process.
Personally responding to each inquiry becomes an almost impossible task. Coaches cannot always answer players' specific questions because they simply do not know all of these young men, and they have not seen them play. The BEST IN VIRGINIA SHOWCASE CAMP is specifically designed to provide the committed high school player with opportunities to:
- Refine and develop his skills
- Be tutored by the game's best teachers
- Compete daily with peers from across the U.S in intensive league play
- Develop relationships with and showcase his game before college coaches
In short, we provide answers and training solutions to the questions commonly asked by today's high school player. We spend five intensive days dedicated to teaching players how to turn potential into reality and fundamental into "feel."

Meals, Lodging & Facilities
Campers will receive three nutritious meals per day in the modern, air-conditioned Settle Hall, and be housed in the historic, air-conditioned Cushing and Carpenter Venable Residence Halls on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College. Hampden-Sydney boasts nearly 1000 acres of campus grounds, including two newly refurbished baseball fields, two hitting areas (nine cages, three flip net areas and two bunting stations), supplemental practice fields, video rooms, classrooms, and a complete weight room.

The BEST IN VIRGINIA SHOWCASE CAMP is a unique cooperative effort among the region's top coaches, meeting annually for two weeks, in one location, to teach, train, and evaluate dedicated high school players from across the U.S (In 2008, campers attended from 13 states). Our staff typically represents over 30 collegiate programs, and boasts nearly a 5:1 teaching ratio. Our bottom line in hiring is that our instructors be known as great teachers and communicators of the game of baseball. Building Big League Citizens
Look to the future! It's easy to see that parents must begin at an early age to prepare their son emotionally, intellectually, and physically to ensure his place in the future of a complex world. A camp experience is an important step toward this goal. Important, because a camp experience cannot be duplicated in any other way.
