Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Basketball has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I would love the opportunity to play the sport I love while earing a college degree. I would also like to earn a basketball scholarship to help relieve the financial burden of my parents having to pay for my college. My ultimate dream would be being drafted into the NBA. I know I have a long way to go and I need to keep working hard every day.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

High School:

Rise Up Basketball Clinic: Each year my sisters and I coordinate and run a basketball clinic for kids ages 4th-5th grade in our community. Proceeds from this event then go to a scholarship program to be given to one graduating male and one female student athlete at my high school.
Camp Fire: This school year the worst fire in California broke out and our high school and surrounding property and our school gym became an evacuation shelter for both human and animals escaping the fire. I spent over three weeks setting up cots, blankets, pillows for evacuees, hauling and sorting donations in our “ Camp Fire distribution center that our community created, helping set up animal pins, taking supplies up to fire fighters and just lending an ear to hear the evacuees and firefighter stories.

8th grade: At my school I am a WEB leader. Web stand for Where Everyone Belongs. My school is a Junior high with 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. As a Web leader, I am involved in activities that promote getting all of our students involved In school. I also help other kids who are being bullied by having them hang out with me and my friends before, during lunch and after school. I am also a member of Media. I put together video morning announcements, I play music every Friday at lunch in our quad and promote Dance contests. I also set up and take down the music and lighting for our school dances.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I am against any kind of drug use or tobacco use. I also eat healthy everyday. I like all fruits and vegetables. Through my participation in sports, I have learned about making healthy food choices before and after my games so I can fuel my body to perform it's best and so I can recover after a contest more quickly. I also work out on hurdles, ladders, shooting, weight lifting and core training everyday regardless if it is basketball season. I shoot everyday for one hour even if I do not have a practice.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Each year my parents, myself and my sisters raise money for the American Cancer Society in honor of both my grandfather and grandmother who lost their battle with cancer. Once we raise the money, we attend and participate in our local Relay For Life. I have been doing this with my family since I was 7 years old.
