Personal Highlights

My name is Kelly Phillips and I am 17 years old. This year, my senior year, will be my 8th year playing volleyball, 7th year playing basketball and 12th year playing softball. My love with each sport continues to grow each day I am playing. I started playing volleyball in the 5th grade, that year I tried out for the local club team Nor Cal Rush 12's team. here is where I started to love being a setter. My 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years I received Most Valuable Player each year. I continued playing club. As a freshman at Wheatland Union High School I made Varsity as the starting setter. Once high school season was over I tried out for the local club team United Volleyball Club. I continued setting and was on the 16-1 Black team, we finished in the Gold Division in league. During my freshman year I also played JV Basketball and JV/Varsity Softball. I enjoy being a multi-sport athlete. I had a 4.0 G.P.A. and was ranked the top of my class as a freshman. I was enrolled in Leadership and was very active with helping out at school and inside my community. As a sophomore I continued to be the starting setter for my varsity team. After my high school season was over I continued to play club for North Valley Juniors 16-1 where we finished as the 31st seed at Far Westerns in Reno. I also continued to play varsity basketball and varsity softball. I was able to maintain a 4.2 G.P.A. all school year. My junior year didn't disappoint. We made playoffs for the first time in 10 years. I joined Yuba Elite and played 18 Power.
I have helped organize and run many activities both inside and outside of school. One activity I am very proud of being involved with was the Every 15 Minutes program. I have gained many skills that help me on and off the court. I am a natural leader, I know when to listen and help others. I am always positive and I strive to win and be the best I can be. With these qualities I take them to the court and help make myself and team the best we can be.
Although I have not decided on a major for college, I know I am very interested in being a Cryptologist. I have been dreaming of playing in college since I was 10. I know that with hard work, determination, and dedication I can get there. Everyone can achieve their dreams if they have the right mindset to do so.
