Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love all the aspects of rowing from the brutal grinds to the numerous friendships. I couldn't see myself not rowing in college because it has been such a major part of my life for so long.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

on the team, as a junior, I lead the team to work hard through example. I have learned how to lead without being a designated leader such as a captain. Off the water, I am in the band but decided not to try out for squad leader but, as an upperclassman and one of the most experienced mellophone players, I still help out with many of the roles of a squad leader in order to help make class more efficient.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

even though I have to get up early in the mornings for school I still make sure to eat breakfast and get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. I make sure to get fully recovered and hydrated for our next practice.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I participate in a local church youth group and we do many service projects for the church, for the kids, and for the less fortunate such as volunteering at homeless shelters. These activities are very important to me because I am blessed to have all that I have from a warm bed to a loving family and I realized that there are a lot of people who don't get to enjoy these luxuries every day but I can help brighten their day and help them know that we care for them.
